ISS is an innovative and sustainable Portuguese marine biotech startup dedicated to the discovery, development, production and commercialisation of sustainable and innovative ingredients derived from seaweeds, tailored to the needs of customers in cosmetics, nutraceuticals and pet care. Role summary
This role is for a Maintenance Technician responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, reliability, and safety of ISS’s demonstrator production line. You will play a key hands-on role in maintaining industrial equipment, resolving mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting daily production activities. Working closely with the production team, you will help ensure operational continuity, minimise downtime, and contribute to the company’s growth through continuous improvement of equipment and processes.
Where do you fit in
You will be part of the team responsible for the operation and maintenance of ISS’s demonstrator line. Your work will directly support production activities, ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently. You will also contribute to the implementation of new equipment, improvements to existing systems, and the overall reliability of ISS’s production infrastructure.
What is the role?
Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
– Executing preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment.
– Supporting the production team in the operation, adjustment, and improvement of equipment.
– Diagnosing mechanical or electrical faults and implementing effective solutions.
– Ensuring the proper functioning of production lines and minimising downtime.
– Taking on operator duties when necessary to ensure process continuity.
– Participating in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment or process improvements.
– Monitoring equipment condition and reporting intervention or replacement needs.
– Overseeing and ensuring full compliance with maintenance and external service contracts, ensuring the quality of all interventions.
– Ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality procedures, and industrial best practices.
– Recording maintenance activities and keeping technical documentation up to date.
What do we need from you?
To succeed in this role, you will have the following:
Skills:
– Secondary education (12th grade) or, preferably, a technical course in Electrotechnics, Mechanics, Electromechanics, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field.
– Experience in maintaining industrial equipment, preferably in a production environment.
– Knowledge of mechanics, electricity, pneumatics, and the ability to interpret technical diagrams.
– Strong ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and effectively.
– Good communication skills and the ability to clearly report maintenance activities.
– Proactive mindset, with the ability to identify issues and propose improvements.
– Ability to work collaboratively and support production whenever required.
– Physical robustness appropriate for the demands of the role.
– Availability to start immediately or in the short term.
